Menu Ideas/budget was created by karen
Hello, getting back to important things in our household. Many changes, one is our limitted grocery budget. We are a growing family of five, little ones still. One banana does well for a fast breakfast for the two little ones.
I am not a cook, though I like to try stuff, I am not organized, so I wanted to see if anyone else here is interesting is posting what you eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks. I just asked my loving family their favorite foods, and they could only come up with spagetti and soup.
Due to $$, it will take me a while to get all the suggested cooking months done, but my family has enjoyed the store bought kefir. so we might try to make it as we cannot pay 's discounted by managers kefir $1.90/bottle. We like it with cereal.
So, since I am suggesting to start a menu box, I can suggest :
Breakfast: Scramble eggs with Kefir and cereal
snack: apple
lunch: *Ground deer meat, tomatoes, peas, salt, cuming to taste served over rice. (*note that I am not sure what you all think of deer meat-since it is free range =o) but my be eating some of the Monsanto corn of your local farmer)
snack: **porcorn with almonds and cinnamon (**again, talk to me about popcorn)
dinner: Stock vegetable soup with rice (using left over rice of lunch--our family seems to finish the pound of meat and have left over rice) and potatoes. Served with some sort of bread.
I would love to hear your healthy and budget ideas !

Hi Karen! We are posting this topic on our Facebook wall in hopes of getting some good response. Here is a typical day at our house
Breakfast: Bacon (pasteured), Free range, local eggs, green juice
Lunch: Vegetable stir fry with salmon or ground beef
Dinner: Meatloaf with the pulp from our green juice, sauerkraut.
Favorite snacks: dried apple slices, sprouted and dried almonds, sprouted jungle peanuts from Wilderness Family Naturals.
I love this idea!

I got kefir from a friend, I was hoping to make it a staple breakfast/snak with granola. but a las, it's my first time so it will take a while while I learn how not to let is separate.
For now we had today:
Breakfast
baked oats: we baked a couple eggs, butter cinnamon, oats, sucanat, let it sit the night, then bake in the am.
snack: cookie
lunch: baked fish with lemon, pepper, served over rice with salad
snack: peanuts
dinner: same as lunch.
I am trying to come up with a montly menu.... we wills see what happened.

I found two options, one from the juicer guy:
www.rebootwithjoe.com/smart-sweets-no-ba...colate-chip-cookies/
the other from the inspiration of the recipe:
ohsheglows.com/2009/05/03/raw-chocolate-chip-cookies/
I don't endorse either diet or life style, but I think I will try the recepi... Anyone see any RED flags in the ingredients?
Thank you!

Hi Karen.
Thanks for these recipes. I prefer honey to agave but otherwise looks like a nice whole food option. Thanks for sharing. There are all sorts of ways to adapt the recipe too which is always nice.
