 Please let your subscribers to this website know that the laundry soap recipes that contain borax and/or Washing soda should NOT be used if your laundry is connected to a grey water system. Anything with Boron is toxic to plants and sodium destroys the structure of clay soils, making them slick and greasy by removing air spaces and prevent good drainage. Once clay soil is damaged by sodium it can be very difficult to restore it to a viable condition. Your option 1 Liquid Laundry soap is the best for greywater systems. If you could also stress that just because a product is labeled "biodegradable" or "natural" or "eco-friendly" does NOT mean it is garden-friendly or "bio-compatible," that is, suitable for the plants and soils of your grey water-irrigated landscape. In all likelihood your water from your washing machine, sinks, etc goes into a septic system or sanitary sewer system. Greywater system is "Greywater (or Graywater) systems allow homeowners to filter greywater for use in watering gardens, yards, plants and flushing toilets."...according to this website:

Thanks for your info. That makes sense. And now I think I have heard of that before. Just didn't ring a bell this time.

What we sometimes forget is that "natural" is not always safe. Borax is caustic and not so kind to our water friends.

a 2-1 ratio of soap flakes and baking soda is normally all you need for your normal laundry needs. Add a few drops of essential oils for scent.

If you need a whitener use hydrogen peroxide but do it the old fashioned way....soak overnight in a bucket

If you have an HE try no detergent at all for your less soiled clothing...the action itself in the machine is enough to clean your clothes

Sad reality, we are a society who over uses because someone (advertisers) have taught us to.
