Laundry soap--my first try was created by Jennifer Masariu
I made 4 gallons of the laundry soap last Wed night using castille bar soap (the whole 4 oz) and 1 cup borax and 1 cup washing soda. I used it to wash the next day and the first load left a huge greasy gray slime/grime all over the washer tub from a dirty rag I washed. Cleaned tub with a clean rag, then threw it in with another load-never came clean, but not all over the tub this time. Then, I tried washing my work shirts, with coffee and food stain--after presoaking them with full strength detergent, and it took 3 washings and lots of pre-treat scrubbing (I finally used Spray and Wash) to get them 'clean' ( I never felt they were clean, really) I am really disappointed because I really wanted to get away from regular detergent. But, I can't go to this much trouble every time and still not feel like the clothes are really clean. I boiled the water to dissolve the soap, followed the directions well. ?????

Completely understandable! It doesn't make sense to spend that kind of extra time and money. Here are some thoughts...
1. Add 1/2 c. baking soda and 1 c. white vinegar to every load...along with your liquid homemade soap mixture. I do this even without having those extra challenges in the laundry.
2.Add 1/2 c. of 6% food grade hydrogen peroxide (look on amazon)...to stained loads. (this can discolor clothing so best used on whites/ligher clothing)
3. My daughter had a new white sweater recently with underarm stains...She took our homemade castile soap (this can be purchased through our online store)...and scoured it direclty on the stains and then washed the sweater...she said it looks like new.
4. Try the powder version. 1 cup borax 1 cup washing soda and 4 oz grated soap....I have not used the liquid version often (only for delicates)...and have had great success with the powder.
Hang in there...it is very common to struggle at first...finding the right combination with your water and needs takes some trial and error. Let us know how it goes if you try some of these things!
